J.J. Patrick works as an independent investigative journalist covering national and international stories. Though he covers hard-hitting, in-depth topics, he is not contracted to a newspaper or other media outlet and his work is free from editorial or political slant.

“For as little as £1 a month or £12 a year, you can help James continue his vital work and ensure that balanced, factual articles are making their way to readers worldwide.”

Journalism like this is crucial in a fast moving world of so-called fake news and alternative facts and James’ only funding for his free to access content comes from you, the reader.

“In real terms that’s a handful of people paying the same as they would for many daily tabloids once a month, or a third of a cup of coffee.”

Transparency is central to James’ philosophy and to be able to produce high quality, international articles such as the #skada series, he has set targets which facilitate his full-time work and cover the production and travel costs.

His aim is to achieve a minimum of £6,000 per month in subscriptions, to ensure he can chase the stories wherever they lead whenever they need to be pursued. In real terms that’s a handful of people paying the same as they would for many daily tabloids once a month, or a third of a cup of coffee.

So far, his Byline funding figures are beginning to grow, but the direct support through PayPal has been the most successful due to the ease of access. He commenced his funding efforts on the 13th of April 2017.
